June 14, 2021: South African batsman Faf du Plessis said he had suffered some memory loss after sustaining a minor injury during the Pakistan Super League T20 match in Abu Dhabi on Saturday but was confident of returning to action soon.
Du Plessis clashed with Quetta Gladiators teammate Mohammad Hasnain while Peshawar was trying to save a boundary in its 61-run defeat to Zalmi.
The 36-year-old fell to the ground while the gladiator’s physio joined him before he got up and was taken to hospital. DuPless tweeted on Sunday, “Thank you all for all the support messages.” “I’m back at the hotel where I’m recovering. I’m convinced I lost some memory but I’ll be fine. Hopefully I’ll be back on the field soon.” Opener Saeem Ayub replaces Du Plessis.
The Gladiators also had to use a hesitant alternative in their previous match when West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell was hit on his helmet by Mohammad Musa Bouncer in the match against Islamabad United. Russell was checked up by a physio and allowed to bat but was dismissed in the next ball. He was taken to hospital, Naseem Shah was also playing as his replacement. Quetta played Lahore Qalandars in their next match on Tuesday.
