Earthquake strikes near Gilgit, Skardu [Breaking News]

In the early hours of Friday, an earthquake of magnitude 4.2 struck Swat and other areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) province, local media reported.

According to the details, media reports claimed that tremors were detected in Mansehra, Torghar, Battagram, and other parts of the province. The quake hit at an intermediate depth of 120km beneath the epicentre near Battagram, KPK, at 10:58pm local time.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department’s National Seismic Monitoring Centre, the magnitude of the earthquake was measured 4.2 on the Richter Scale. The epicentre occurred 15 kilometres northwest of Balakot, in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
