12th February, 2021: An earthquake of 6.4 on Richter Scale, with an epicentre at Tajikistan, Xinjiang region, and a depth of around 80 km according to initial reports, was felt in large parts of the country.
The State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) has provided the earthquake facts as follows:

Tremors were felt in Jehlum, Lahore, Multan, Jhang, Faisalabad, Pakpattan, Narowal, Sialkot, and the whole length and breadth of Punjab province.
The earthquake was of a long duration. In Rawalpindi and Islamabad the intensity of the tremors sent people out of their homes, while reciting kalma for divine protection. Severe jolts have been felt in Abbotabad and Mansehra. The same applies to Attock. In Pattoki, Renala Khurd and Chiniot as well, people left their homes reciting Kalma e Tayyaba.
It has been reported that tremors have been felt in the north of Pakistan: Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
Tremors were felt on the other side of the border in New Delhi, the capital of India.
Thus far, there is no report of any damage of life or limb, or material property. However, the National Seismic Monitoring Centre, there is a danger of after-shocks in the next few hours.
