ECP meeting to decide elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

The Election Commission of Pakistan members will meet today to deliberate on the matter of provincial elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and by-polls on the vacant seats.

Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja will preside over the meeting.

According to sources, a briefing has been prepared about the expenditures and preparations regarding the elections. Moreover, it would be suggested not to hold the elections in Punjab and KP on the same day.

As per reports said that the authorities have suggested to conduct elections in Punjab between April 1-10.

While they proposed to hold polls in the KP province between April 10-15.

In Punjab and KP, 53,000 and 17,000 polling stations would be set up, respectively. Moreover, 500,000 police force would be deployed in both the provinces. Troops and Rangers would also be deputed at sensitive and very sensitive police stations.

Besides this, 700,000 polling staff is needed to conduct the polls in both the provinces.

After today’s meeting of the ECP, a letter would be written to the governors about the elections.
