ECP summons Punjab CM Hamza Shehbaz on alleged election code violation

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued notice to Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shahbaz Sharif on violating the code of conduct regarding Punjab by-elections and ordered him to appear before the ECP on July 7th.

Punjab CM made announcement of free electricity upto 100 units in Punjab irked opposition.

According to the code of conduct issued by the Election Commission, no government official, elected representative or government official can announce any development scheme in contesting constituencies after the announcement of the election schedule.

Also, earlier in the day, PTI senior vice president central Fawad Chaudhry wrote a letter to Register Supreme Court of Pakistan SCP to take notice of the alleged violation of ECP code of Conduct by the Punjab CM candidate Hamza Shahbaz.
