ECP takes notice of violation of code of conduct in NA-249

Lahore, 2nd April: Violation of code of conduct has come to the notice of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in Karachi NA-249 by-elections.

According to the report of Baaghi TV, the Election Commission on Friday issued notices regarding violations of election rules and code of conduct in NA-249 by-elections.

District Returning Officers from NA-249 issued a warning notice to PML-N Candidate Miftah Ismail.

According to DR Owais Nadeem Haider, a warning notice has also been issued to PTI candidate Amjad Afridi on the participation of members of the National Assembly and Senate in the election campaign of the PML-N candidate.

MQM chief Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and Faisal Sabzwari also attended the inauguration ceremony of the election office yesterday. Notices were issued to PTI, MQM, PML-N and PPP candidates for violating election rules by the Election Commission.

District Returning Officer Syed Nadeem Haider has summoned all the candidates contesting the by-elections tomorrow.

The meeting of the contesting candidates in NA-249 will be held on April 3. DRO says that violation of the election code of conduct will not be tolerated in any way.

Strict legal action will be taken against the candidates if they do not abide by the rules.

Members of Parliament cannot participate in the election campaign under Article 17 of the Code of Conduct for Elections. He has asked the SSPs to ensure compliance with the rules in their areas.
