ECP to decide foreign funding case in 30 days: IHC

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has directed the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to decide Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) foreign funding case within 30 days.

According to the details, Islamabad High Court Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani has issued a written decision in this regard. The IHC has also rejected PTI’s plea to stop Akbar S. Babar from handing over the record of foreign funding case.

Furthermore, the court has dismissed the petition filed by PTI against Akbar S. Babar and upheld the decision of the ECP. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf had challenged the ECP’s decision. However, the ECP had rejected PTI’s petitions on January 25, 2022 and January 31, 2022.

PTI foreign funding case, hearing adjourned till April 19

It is to be noted that yesterday, a foreign funding case was heard in the ECP by a three-member bench headed by the Chief Election Commissioner. PTI lawyer Anwar Mansoor gave his arguments on the occasion after which the hearing was adjourned till April 19, 2022.

It may be recalled that the prohibited foreign funding case has been pending in the Election Commission since November 2014.
