The Election Commission will indict Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Chairman Iman Khan in the contempt case on August 2.

A four-member commission headed by Election Commission member Sindh Nisar Durrani heard the contempt proceedings against Imran on Tuesday.

The PTI Chairman appeared before the commission. His lawyer Shoaib Shaheen was also present in the ECP.

During the hearing, member Nisar Durrani said that the PTI Chairman was supposed to be charged today.

However, PTI’s lawyer Shaheen said that the Election Commission should first decide on their objections. He said he was appointed the PTI chairman’s lawyer since the last hearing, requesting the commission to give him time to read the case files.

“We have appeared before the ECP. We don’t have the complete record. I am appearing before the ECP for the first time. We will submit the answer,” the lawyer said.

On this, ECP member Durrani adjourned the hearing, remarking that the PTI Chairman would be indicted on Aug 2.

He also directed the PTI Chairman to appear before the commission in the next hearing.
