More than a hundred students in Lahore attended a pre-departure orientation session organised for their upcoming educational experiences in the United States, through the EducationUSA initiative.

Pakistani student enrollment in America’s institutions of higher learning rose 16% last year, outpacing the record 12% growth in the number of international students hosted by the country. This puts Pakistan among eight sources in the top 20 countries with the largest increases in US enrollment.

About the Pre-Departure Orientation

The pre-departure orientation for students was meticulously planned with a wide array of activities. These included engaging ice-breaking sessions such as crossword puzzles to foster camaraderie among participants.

Beyond the social activities, the orientation provided essential information vital for the students upcoming journey. They were briefed comprehensively on accommodation arrangements, transportation options, health insurance coverage, university plans, available financial aid, and insights into the classroom culture in the United States.

Such orientations play a crucial role in preparing students for their international academic pursuits. By interacting with peers and gaining detailed knowledge about logistical and cultural aspects beforehand, students can alleviate concerns and better prepare themselves for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. This proactive approach not only enhances their readiness but also contributes significantly to a smoother transition and more enriching educational experience abroad.
