Election Commission Summons Faisal Vawda on 10th March

ISLAMABAD, 25th February 2021: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has summoned Federal Minister Faisal Vawda on March 10. Today a hearing was held on disqualification petitions against Federal Minister Faisal Vawda, in which there were important questions and answers.

It is learned that a four-member commission headed by Election Commission member Punjab Altaf Ibrahim conducted the hearing. It is also learned that despite the summons of the Election Commission, Federal Minister Faisal Vawda did not appear today. Upon this the Member Election Commission Altaf Ibrahim said that in the last hearing he had asked Faisal Vawda to appear. Has he appeared?

On which Faisal Vawda’s lawyer said that the order of the last hearing was not received in which Faisal Vawda was summoned.

On this occasion, the Election Commission asked three questions to which the answer was submitted. Lawyer Mohammad bin Mohsin said that the order of the last hearing was not provided and also said that he tried his best to assist the Election Commission in this case.

According to sources, Faisal Wawda’s lawyer has filed a fresh petition under section 3, and that under section 3, the Election Commission should review the February 9 order.

On this Member Commission Altaf Ibrahim Qureshi asked under which law we should reconsider our order. Faisal Vawda’s lawyer apologised to the Election Commission for his non-appearance.

On this occasion, the Election Commission directed to pay the fine of Rs 50,000 imposed on Faisal Vawda, to Pakistan Sweet Home.

On this the Election Commission said that the Election Commission has the power to hear disqualification petitions against Faisal Wawda. Faisal Wawda’s lawyer said that Faisal Wawda’s mother is ill due to which he could not appear. Faisal Vawda’s reply has already been submitted.

Member Election Commission Irshad Qaiser on the occasion said that the Election Tribunal Karachi has asked to raise the issue of dual citizenship in the relevant forum. He said that the Election Commission is the relevant forum that can hear this case.

The petitioner’s counsel said that Faisal Vawda wants to become a senator so that the case could be disposed off, on which it was announced by the commission that the hearing on disqualification petitions against Faisal Wawda should be adjourned till March 10.

Election Commission sources said that out of the four petitions filed against Faisal Vawda, one of Muhammad Aslam’s petitions was not followed and the remaining petitions against Faisal Wawda will continue
