The Sindh High Court Election Tribunal has heard the case of Faisal Vawda’s nomination papers, in which the arguments of the lawyer of Federal Minister Faisal Vawda are continuing. The lawyer said that Faisal Vawda did not hide the facts, he had renounced his US citizenship.
Faisal Vawda’s lawyer added that objecting to the nomination papers is against the law. Qadir Khan Mandokhel’s appeal should be rejected. The lawyer pleaded that the Election Tribunal had declared Faisal Vawda eligible for the Senate elections.
Faisal Vawda can now run in the Senate elections. The decision of the Election Tribunal was upheld. Those who objected to Faisal Vawda could not be satisfied with the dual citizenship, the decision stated.
Why were Faisal Vawda’s nomination papers accepted? An appeal had been filed in the Election Tribunal against the approval of Faisal Vawda’s nomination papers for the Senate, according to a report by Baaghi TV.
Qadir Khan filed a petition to disqualify Faisal Vawda. Rasheed A. Rizvi appeared on behalf of Qadir Khan Mandokhel. Rashid A. Rizvi took the position that Faisal Vawda hid the facts about his US citizenship. Therefore, nomination papers of the Federal Minister should be rejected. The Election Tribunal issued notices to the Election Commission and Faisal Vawda seeking a reply yesterday. The election tribunal ordered Faisal Vawda to appear and explain.
The petition filed by Qadir Mando Khel said that objections were filed before the returning officer but he refused to listen. Faisal Wawda should be disqualified for Senate elections. The Provincial Election Commission, Returning Officer and Faisal Wawda have been made parties in the appeal.
It is to be noted that the Election Commission of Pakistan had accepted the nomination papers of PTI Senate candidate Faisal Wawda. PPP lawyers Qadir Khan Mandokhel and Nihal Hashmi, while talking, had said that there was an objection that Faisal Wawda had written that he had given US citizenship in 2018 to Faisal Wawda of Turkey and not to the Senate candidate. The High Court will again appeal against Faisal Wawda in the Supreme Court.
