Energy deal with Iran, PM shares the good news with locals

Gwadar (24th June 2022): Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif has reached Gwadar for the Energy deal agreement. On his arrival in Gwadar, the Premier has been briefed on the development projects and the law and order situation. 

Chief Minister (CM) Balochistan, Abdul Quddos Bizenjo said, Gwadar’s development is progressive for Balochistan and Pakistan. According to reports, 1652 million has been earmarked for Gwadar in the provincial budget. Water supply has also been included in the FY 2022-2023 budget for the province. Similarly, commercial markets will be set up along the border areas.

Agreeing with the CM’s statement, Premier Sharif said that development in Gwadar is synonymous with progress in the province and Pakistan. He added that the Federal Government wants to solve the problems faced by the people of Balochistan and wishes that the locals benefit from the development projects in Gwadar. Speaking on the occasion, PM Sharif said, that it is the duty of the government to alleviate the problems and sufferings of the people and they will do so wholeheartedly.

“Development is meaningless if it does not translate into uplift of local people’s lives”, tweeted the Prime Minister on Twitter. 

PM Sharif stated that local fishermen will be provided with engines for their boats. He added that the problems highlighted by them will be worked upon on a priority basis. According to reports, the government has vowed responsibility for maintenance of the engines yet to be distributed. The authorities have ensured that the distribution of nearly 2,000 engines will be done on the basis of merit, and will be completed in about three months.

Speaking on the matter of the recent energy deal between Iran and Pakistan, the Premier said that the agreement will be presented in Cabinet on Tuesday. 

Additionally, he stated that the old water pipes in Balochistan will be replaced, work on which will be completed by September this year when the water supply will start. Approximately Rs.100 billion PKR has been set aside in the budget for this purpose.  

It is pertinent to note, that Iran has said that the 100 MW power project, which was delayed in the agreement on the project by Pakistan, will be completed soon.

Earlier, referring to his visit to Gwadar, tweeting on the social networking site Twitter, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that he was going to pay a one-day visit to Gwadar today and would be briefed on development projects and law and order in Gwadar. If it does not improve the lives of the locals, we will review the progress of development projects in Gwadar and attend the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) of Gwadar Hospital.
