England cricketers suffer food poisoning ahead of historic Test series against Pakistan

Pakistan and England trophy unveiling has now been delayed after England skipper Ben Stokes and other players suffered from food poisoning.

England’s cricketers, including skipper Ben Stokes, have been struck down with a suspected stomach bug on the eve of the first Test against Pakistan in Rawalpindi, despite the touring party bringing their own chef.

A ceremony Wednesday for the two captains to unveil the series trophy was postponed to give Stokes time to recover.

“Several players and staff members, including England captain Ben Stokes, are feeling unwell and have been advised to stay at the hotel to rest up,” said the England and Wales Cricket Board in a statement.

Reports in British media said the players were suffering from viral food poisoning.

Earlier, England named the playing XI for the first Men’s Test against Pakistan.
