Tokyo (7th Sept, 2019): Education Minister for Japan, Masahiko Shibayama, decides to maintain Japanese language format for the English language as a way forward.

According to reports, following Japan’s progress in learning Japanese, the government has now decided to take the next step. Sources confirm that Japan’s Minister of Education, Masahiko Shibayama, has suggested that the government documents should be written in the traditional Japanese style of Japanese names in which the first name is written after the family name. He has made this request to his other cabinet members as well, as confirmed by reports.

According to sources, this is not the first time, a panel of the Ministry of Education had suggested almost 20 years ago that in order to respect the diversity in languages and cultures, the names should be arranged in the traditional Japanese way. However, as confirmed by the Minister of Education the panel’s proposal could not reached the public.
