‘Euphoria’ is now HBO’s second most watched show
Mar 15, 2022: The Euphoria is now HBO’s second most-viewed series behind Game of Thrones.
According to Variety, the finale of Euphoria Season 2 drew a total of 16.3 million viewers – the second most watched figure in the HBO series in the last 18 years after Game of Thrones, which saw its Season 8 watched by 19.4 million viewers in 2019.
The drama Euphoria, which stars Zendaya as Rue, a high schooler dealing with the pressures of love, loss and addiction. In addition to Hunter Schafer as Jules Vaughn, Sydney Sweeney as Cassie, Alexa Demie as Maddy Perez, Barbie Ferreira as Kat Hernandez, and Maude Apatow as Lexi Howard.
Angus Cloud plays Fezco, Jacob Elordi plays Nate Jacobs, Algee Smith plays Christopher McKay, and Eric Dane plays Cal Jacobs.
Euphoria is also the most tweeted show of the new decade so far, which was another title Game of Thrones routinely held. Euphoria still has a while to go before it can post Game of Thrones numbers, but it’s great to see an original TV show like this taking off.
According to Mashable’s Alison Foreman, in her review of Season 2, Euphoria is a “dark portrait of modern adolescence” which takes a “no-holds-barred approach to drugs, sex, and violence.”
In an earlier announcement, HBO had renewed the show for a third season.
