Ex-Premier Nawaz in No Mood for Political Bargain with Establishment

Islamabad August 22 (Online Int’l): The current political activism of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif reflects that he is not in the mood to go for a bargain with the establishment.

He not only sought a contacts list of all party members in the national and provincial assemblies but PML-N senators as well to contact them in person. Sources at the PML-N said that spokesperson Maryam Aurangzeb had shared with him a contacts list of all party members present in the lower and upper houses. He is contacting every party leader in an individual capacity not only to issue directions regarding the party’s future political strategy but also getting their feedback on party matters.

Following the same strategy, the former prime minister has started approaching the party’s provincial presidents. In case of sad and happy moments of the party leaders, Nawaz Sharif contacts them and shares their sorrows and happiness. The sources said that due to his illness Nawaz Sharif was not paying heed to the political matters of the party, but now he has started taking part in the political affairs of the party.

Shehbaz Sharif’s illness and the party’s growing contacts with the establishment were some other reasons that motivated him to get himself active in the country’s politics. The sources maintained that the former premier doesn’t seem in mood to go for a deal with the establishment.

Nawaz Sharif also gets updates on the political affairs from Maryam Nawaz on a daily basis and issues her instructions. The sources said that Maryam Nawaz has been asked to remove differences between the party’s senior members so that the party adopts a proper strategy for future elections.

He himself is supervising the matters and developments related to the proposed APC. Nawaz will contact leaders of opposition parties to make the proposed APC a success.
