Professor Isaac Ben-Israel, the Israeli academic, who is head of the Security Studies Program at Tel Aviv University, has said his analysis proves the virus peaks at 40 days before declining. According to reports, the peak starts at about 30 percent and then decrease to 10 percent after six weeks, before dropping to less than five percent in the seventh week – or about 49 days. According to Prof Israel, the disease is self-limiting and largely vanishes after 70 days – with or without any interventions. The analysis of his research shows that this is a constant pattern across countries who have imposed severe lockdowns as well as those with leniency policy. Critics have warned that it is hard to tell if the professor’s calculations are correct because there isn’t a country to measure the figures against – known as a baseline. For example, in Sweden even though there are fewer restrictions, but social distancing is being followed.
