Lahore, 19th August: An explosion occurred at the Ashura procession in Bahawalnagar, Punjab, leaving 3 people dead and 53 others injured.
According to details, the blast took place around Jail Road and Jamia Masjid in Mohajir Colony in Bahawalnagar, Punjab Province, on Thursday.
As per unconfirmed reports, the incident took place near an Ashura procession, killing at least three persons and injuring 53 others. The cause and the timing of the explosion are unclear. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack as yet.

Meanwhile, the spokesman of Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen said that the Punjab government should not be negligent in the security of the mourners, such serious incidents could lead to deterioration of the situation.
He added that the Bahawalnagar blast shows the incompetence of the Punjab government, which failed to protect the mourners. He asked DPO Bahawalnagar should be removed from office immediately. Home Minister urges security agencies to provide foolproof security to Ashura processions.
On the other hand, the death toll from the blast has risen to 3, after a 7-year-old Mahim Zahra breathed her last at the hospital. Salman, 20, has already died.

While 53 people were injured in the blast at the district hospital, out of which 5 people are in critical condition.
According to reports coming in, the explosion took place in the first procession from Jamiat-ul-Zahra on the occasion of Ashura Day. When the procession reached near Mohajir Colony Mosque, a loud explosion was heard in the procession.
As per reports, an emergency has been declared in the hospital and all the routes of the mourning procession have been sealed.
