LAHORE, Jan 30 (APP):The Punjab Agriculture Department has advised the wheat growers to keep monitoring their crop to protect it from ‘Kungi’ or rust disease.

A spokesman for the department said on Thursday that last year ‘Kungi’ disease caused low yield of the crop.

He said, “It has been witnessed that the attack chances of ‘Kungi’ or rust disease occurs after rain.”

He said that in case of an attack, per acre yield of wheat is reduced by 10 to 30 per cent.

The spokesman said that in case of an attack, poisons recommended by the Agriculture Pest Scouting (Extension) must be used.
