Favouritism or Lack of Accountability, what is PIA upto?

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) employee Sana Waheed accused the then Special assistant to chief executive officier (CEO), Wg. Cdr Kamran Anjum, of sexual harassment and sent a complain to CEO Arshad Malik on April 15, 2019.

According to the reports of Baaghi TV, on August 13, 2020, a subcommittee of the Senate Standing Committee on Aviation met at the Parliament House to analyze the matter of Harassment at work place of Sana Waheed, Senior RTO of PIA.

According to the details, the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) officer Kamran Anjum has been convicted of his crime and was found guilty for commiting “Harassment At work place” after a long “In Camera Session” in Standing Committee meeting. However, till now the PIA management has not acted upon the directives, rather looked down upon the honorable forum.

It is to be noted that the PIA management is concerned about saving their PAF officer which is a grave offence. PIA and the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) are being dominated by former PAF officials, with the aviation sector treated as a retirement home for military men.

The shady appointments aren’t limited to the military, with the political parties “rewarding” their workers with positions in the PIA.

In addition to the overreach of the armed forces, and the misappropriation of the political parties, the judiciary has also been castigated for its role in the PIA crisis. This is highlighted by the fact that hundreds of PIA employees who have been found guilty of serious crimes have actually found a way back into the airline.
