President Dr. Arif Alvi approved the appointment of Fawad Hassan Fawad as a federal minister in the caretaker cabinet. This decision was made based on the recommendation of caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar under Article 224 (1a) of the Constitution.
In August, Prime Minister Kakar formed a 24-member cabinet, which included politicians, TV personalities, retired bureaucrats, and servicemen. Notably, this cabinet was seen as having a significant representation of the nominees of the PML-N and PPP parties.
Out of the 24 cabinet members, 16 served as federal ministers, three as advisers to the prime minister, and five as special assistants to the prime minister (SAPMs). Many of these individuals were newcomers to government roles.
The swearing-in ceremony took place at Aiwan-i-Sadr and was attended by Prime Minister Kakar, Punjab’s caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, politicians, and prominent figures from various sectors.
Earlier, the Supreme Court on Thursday dismissed an application seeking bail cancellation of Fawad Hasan Fawad, principal secretary to former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
A three-member bench of the apex court, headed by Justice Ijazul Ahsan heard the case.
The apex court dismissed the plea against Fawad on the grounds of being ineffective.
During the hearing, the special prosecutor National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Rizwan Sati said that Fawad had been acquitted by the trial court in the reference and the request for cancellation of bail has become ineffective due to his acquittal.
Later, the Supreme Court dismissed the plea declaring it ineffective.
