September 29, 2021: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has issued important guidelines for extending the date of submission of statement.
A statement issued by the FBR said that the extension can be applied through the relevant regional offices or online while the regional offices should set up a help-desk to receive tax applications.
The FBR requires applicants for extension to provide their National Tax Number (NTN) and Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) number. Regional offices have been asked to make generous decisions for the extension. It should be noted that the FBR has decided in principle not to extend the date for submission of income tax returns.
Earlier today, the Federal Board of Revenue has announced that it will not extend the date for filing income tax returns. According to the FBR statement, the date for submission of income tax returns will not be extended while the date for submission of tax returns will also not be extended. The FBR says that the date for filing tax returns for companies will not be extended.
According to the FBR notification, taxpayers can apply for extension of time for hardship cases and the Income Tax Commissioner can approve applications for extension of time for taxpayers.
The notification said that the commissioners can give an extension of 15 days for filing tax returns in hardship cases. The income tax commissioners have the power to give 15 days for filing tax returns. The notification further said that the FBR is simplifying the IRIS system while the last date for filing tax returns is September 30, 2021 and the period for filing returns will not be extended.
