ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan, while expressing fears of a fourth wave in the country, hinted at imposing sanctions in case the situation worsens.
According to ARY News, addressing the nation on the Corona situation, the Prime Minister said, “We are constantly monitoring the Corona epidemic situation. At present, the Delta virus (Indian variant) is very much for the whole world, including Pakistan.” There is a big danger, the situation has become very terrible after the outbreak of a new type of Corona in Bangladesh.
Imran Khan said, “So far, Allah has been especially kind to Pakistan. Pakistan is the third country in the world to take better measures in the fight against corona. We were the only country to keep its mosques open for worship in Ramadan.”
“The situation in Indonesia has worsened due to the spread of the Indian type of corona. If we do not follow the SOPs, the situation could get worse here and we could go back to the lockdown,” he said.
Imran Khan said that there was a decrease in corona cases in Pakistan but now the number of cases is increasing again, the main reason for not following the SOPs, if the people did not show seriousness. Tough decisions like lockdown will have to be made. “The biggest losers from the lockdown are the weak and the poor because the lockdown shuts down restaurants, wedding halls and other businesses.”
