FEBR seeks facilitation of traders opting for PoS integration
Lahore: Chief Commissioner Nasir Iqbal Khan urged the traders to respond the Point of Sale (PoS) system notices of Federal Board of Revenue either they fall under the conditions of integration with the board or not, enabling the RTO to streamline its records before it is too late.
He said that traders has not to be worried unnecessarily if they have been served notices on account of Point of Sale (PoS) as the notices are being served directly on the direction of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and the RTO has nothing to do with that.
The chief commissioner was quoted by Friends of Economic and Business Reforms (FEBR) president and former vice president Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) Kashif Anwar as saying in a meeting with Traders of Qauid-e-Azam Group of Lahore led by SVP Nasir Ansari.
The FEBR president said that the chief commissioner has assured the group of no uncalled for checking and raids on the shops and outlets.
The chief commissioner added that FBR notices do not term anyone defaulter instead theses notice are being issued by the Board itself to promote tax culture.
If anyone receives the FBR notices for installation and integration with the PoS and the receivers does not actually fall under ambit of PoS the owner must not ignore the notice but respond it only, requesting the RTO to remove their names from the list and the RTO do the same as soon as the reply on the notice is received in the RTO.
If the traders fail to response, the RTO had to send first and second reminder, then first and second plenty and finally action under section 40 b, he explained.
He said if the notices are not responded it is understood that the owners of the outlets are covered under the conditions of PoS and delibrately avoiding integration to evade taxes, the regional office has to take up the unattended notices to enforce them.
He urged the traders to reply the notices at the initial stages to avoid action under section 40b after the notices are received so that the further process could be run in accordance with the data available with the RTO.
On the occasion, talking to the chief commissioner, Anwar asked the commissioner to ensure facilitation of the traders who are opting PoS System integration with the board encouraging the the stakeholders more integration with the system.
The traders who are getting integrated with the system should not be put to face assessment and 40b instead they should be trained, facilitated and educated leading them ahead, he said, adding that the traders that are reluctant to get integrated with PoS should sensitized about the far reaching advantages of the integration for both FBR and the traders.
