Female activists killed in North Waziristan
Lahore, 22nd February: Four female activists have been killed in North Waziristan.
Baaghi TV: On Monday four women workers were gunned down in the Mirali area of North Waziristan, police said.
The women who worked for an NGO Sabawoon and were the handcraft trainers were ambushed by two gunmen as they were driving through a village in the North Waziristan district.
According to local police chief Shafiullah Gandapur just one passenger survived the assault.
He told AFP, “No one has claimed responsibility for the attack so far but it was surely an act of terrorism.”
Gandapur conformed that the aid workers were affiliated with a programme run by a local institute to develop household handicraft skills for women.
Gandapur said in a statement that the driver of the vehicle was also injured in the attack.
He added that a search operation was being carried out in the Mirali tehsil of the district to trace and arrest the terrorists.
The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan issued a statement, condemning the attack and demanding that the criminals be brought to justice.
