Female presiding officer and her husband arrested on fraud charges

According to police, the accused Haleem Shah Shirazi is a former candidate of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and also in-charge of PTI media cell.
The accused says that he is innocent, he came to visit his wife and is being subjected to political revenge. He claims that there is no truth in the allegation of stamping on ballot paper.
In this regard, Provincial Election Commissioner Sharifullah said that after complete investigation action will be taken against whoever is involved and new polling staff will be deployed.
Sharifullah said that the election material was safe and the new staff would be handed over to the returning officer. If there is any report of fraud, action will be taken against the staff.
Assistant Commissioner Ehtesham Khan said that all the staff of the concerned polling station would be handcuffed and taken to the police station. A case would be registered against all the staff. Presiding Officer Tehseen Begum is also shifted to the police station under high security. Afterwards the situation at the polling station became tense and a heavy contingent of police was deployed.
Assistant Commissioner Ehtesham Khan warned any one from taking the law into their own hands, polling staff and materials are being changed by the deployed policemen.
On the other hand, Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja has issued instructions to the officers regarding Khyber Pakhtunkhwa local body elections.
The Chief Election Commissioner directed the Provincial Election Commissioner Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to be diligent regarding the local body elections and said that all resources should be utilized during the elections for holding transparent and fair elections. Immediate action must be taken in case of any violation during the election, no concessions should be made to those who disturb law and order.
The Chief Election Commissioner directed the Special Secretary Election Commission to immediately reach Peshawar and personally monitor the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa local body elections.
A spokesperson of the Election Commission said that the Secretary Election Commission has been directed to visit various polling stations during the voting process tomorrow.
