FIA’s Rawalpindi chapter celebrates great success
At the beginning of the new year, the cyber crime wing of the FIA Rawalpindi Circle celebrates great success.
Accused sentenced to 7 years for blackmailing a woman by sharing her photos and videos on social media.
Under the supervision of Rawalpindi Zone Additional Director Chaudhry Abdul Rauf, Circle in-charge Adnan Lohani formed an investigation team and as a result of his constant guidance, tireless efforts of Investigation Officer Amjad Bilal and other team, the culprit was arrested and inappropriate videos and photos were recovered from his possession.
Afzal not only posted obscene photos and videos of the woman through Facebook and WhatsApp but later continued to blackmail her.
The culprit was prosecuted in June 2020 under the Cyber Crimes Act. The legal team of Rawalpindi Circle monitored the case and followed all the matters of the court, as a result of which the bail application of the convict was rejected by the High Court and the trial court of Rawalpindi sentenced the convict to seven years imprisonment.
The woman, who suffered severe mental anguish, was brought to justice by the FIA’s cybercrime wing.
However, the FIA Director Cyber Crime Wing appreciated the efforts of the officers of Rawalpindi Circle on this important operation and the first convocation of this year.
