WASHINGTON: Actor Tom Cruise is set to make an action film in space together with SpaceX and US space agency NASA, according to reports.

Representatives of Tom Cruise and SpaceX did not respond to a request for comment, but NASA Administrator, Jim Bridenstine, has confirmed the news in a tweet. He tweeted that, we need popular media to make a new generation of engineers committed to making NASA’s projects a reality.

NASA did not provide further details. But yesterday’s report revealed that Tom Cruise is currently in talks with Elon Musk’s company, SpaceX, to discuss the possibility of filming a feature film in space. The US space agency NASA has also been included. The plan has not yet been finalized and preliminary talks are under way, but reports claim that these are serious talks.

The upcoming project also matches Tom Cruise’s life-threatening stunts. People still remember his stunts, especially in the Mission Impossible series. However, this new film will not be a sequel to Mission Impossible, rather, there is no need to name a franchise to make any film in space.

It is unclear how the film will be shot in space, but SpaceX has received approval to send the first manned spacecraft, and the spacecraft will take NASA astronauts on the 27th of May. The spacecraft will then be used for other space operations.

The company is also working on a spacecraft starship, which will be a multi-use spacecraft with enough space to carry a film crew. It will take many years to prepare, but NASA has made it part of its mission to the moon, which will begin in 2024.
