Fire breaks out at ICU of Covid hospital in Gujarat’s Rajkot claiming 6 lives

India: A hospital fire in Rajkot city in Gujarat claimed six lives in the early hours of Friday. The fire initially broke out in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Shivanand Hospital in Rajkot.
Since the Shivanand Hospital is a coronavirus-designated medical facility, there were 11 patients inside the ICU at the time of the incident. While local authorities have good reason to believe that the blaze started from the ICU, the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
The Rajkot fire department has managed to control the blaze while all patients have been relocated to another hospital.
Initial inputs suggest that several patients suffered severe injuries during the fire at Rajkot’s Shivanand Hospital on Friday.
More details are awaited as this is a developing story.
