Islamabad, 2nd February: Prime Minister Imran Khan launched COVID-19 vaccination drive at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) in Islamabad.

Baaghi TV: PM Khan on Tuesday launched Pakistan’s first coronavirus vaccination drive and reminded the people to continue exercising precautions.

The first vaccine was administered in Pakistan under the supervision of the prime minister Imran Khan, his adviser Dr Faisal Sultan, and National Command and Operations Centre chief Asad Umar. The jab was given to a healthcare worker in Islamabad.

As per reports, frontline health worker Dr Rana Imran became the first person in Pakistan to receive the Chinese SinoPharm vaccine.

The premier said that a similar shot will also be given to healthcare workers across the country who work with coronavirus patients. Following this, the people with age groups most at risk will be administered the shot.

PM Imran Khan addressed a gathering to mark the occasion and said, “The more you abide by coronavirus safety measures, the easier it will be to protect everyone from the virus.”

He added, “I congratulate all those present here for working at great speed to import a vaccine. We also thank China for gifting us 500,000 vaccines.”

It is to be noted that a special Pakistan Air Force (PAF) plane carrying the first batch of COVID-19 vaccine doses reached Islamabad on Monday.

The plane carried 500,000 doses of the coronavirus vaccine, gifted from China to Pakistan and it landed at the Noor Khan Airbase.
