Five foreigners arrested by FIA cybercrime wing

Lahore, 8th January: Cybercrime Wing of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested five foreigners from Lahore on Friday.

Baaghi TV: According to reports, the cybercrime wing of the FIA has arrested five foreigners and their accomplice during separate raids in Lahore and Islamabad.

The spokesperson from the FIA cybercrime wing said that five foreign citizens were arrested during a raid in Lahore, as they were involved in the financial scams through social media.

The FIA officials seized fake currency and modern equipment during the raids and have also arrested their Pakistani accomplice from Islamabad. It has also emerged during the initial investigation that the accused posses funds worth millions in their bank accounts.

Earlier in September 2020, the Facebook administration signed an agreement with the cybercrime wing of Pakistan’s Federal Investigation Agency to share the data with Pakistani authorities to secure the electronic horizon and curb the latitude cybercriminals enjoyed.

The investigation watchdog can now easily access the data from the social networking site to expand its investigations in the cybercrime cases.
