The newly appointed chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Ramiz Raja, has appointed Mathew Hayden as the head coach and Vernon Philander as the bowling coach ahead of the T20 International World Cup.
According to the details, Australia’s great Mathew Hayden and South Africa’s Vernon Philander have been selected as Pakistan Cricket team coaches for the upcoming T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
People across the internet are really excited as if Hayden and Philander are going to play in the final eleven of the team. However, it is pertinent to mention here that both, Hayden and Philander, have no prior experience of coaching a cricket team and the world has earlier seen fine players like Greg Chappell, Anil Kumble, and Misbah ul Haq failing to deliver as a coach.
Moreover, Mathew Hayden’s appointment without a coaching experience seems to be just okay, but everyone knows Vernon Philander. It is important to mention here that the South African medium pacer is a red-ball specialist and his inclusion as a white-ball coach looks quite unjustified and illogical.
PCB Reeks of Nepotism & Favouritism – New Head Coach
Vernon Philander who has been hired to give the Pakistan Cricket team a boost ahead of the T20 World Cup has himself played only seven T20 matches in a span of nine years. Carrying a total experience of seven matches and 83 balls (13.5 overs) in total, Philander has taken four wickets with an average and economy of 28.50 and 8.24, respectively.
Baaghi TV has learned from reliable sources that Philander not only lacks T20 cricket experience, however, has also been rejected in the Indian Premier League (IPL) on five occasions.
With a base price entry of five million (5,000,000 INR), Philander is among the top international players to go unsold in the IPL auction for as many as five editions. This incredible record puts him third on the list of unsold players for the maximum number of times in IPL history.
Such an embarrassing moment for the South African pacer when he got unsold at a base price of five million, which is supposedly the lowest base tag for a capped overseas player.
