Have you ever wondered why you, or others, procrastinate? Did you just think about laziness? You’re pretty close, but there’s something else at play.
Procrastination is common, but it can affect your health in extreme cases. Procrastination is the worst enemy of productivity. According to psychology, people who procrastinate have a faulty sense of time. Which means that they think there’s plenty of life left but actually they are near the borderline.

Procrastination can stop even the most promising careers by diminishing the quality of your work. Today, we are going to tell you five ways to break out this habit of procrastination.
Recognize That You’re Procrastinating
If you have a deadline tomorrow and you have a genuinely good reason to delay it, then you are not procrastinating. However, if you are just delaying an important just because you don’t feel like or you find something more interesting like reading articles, scrolling your social media or probably YouTubing. Or maybe, you start an important task and go out to get yourself a cup of coffee.
Take out some time, think and then recognize!
Work Out WHY You’re Procrastinating
Once you identify your habit of procrastination, you need to know the reason that is making you a procrastinator. For instance, are you working on something that seems to be unpleasant or boring which is hindering your performance? If so, don’t just put it aside rather take steps to get it out of the way quickly. Find ways to make it interesting, focus on it and make it enjoyable.
Poor organization also leads to procrastination. Organized people usually overcome this habit by making to-do lists and prioritizing their tasks.
Optimize Your Environment
Environment is another factor take leads you towards procrastination. If you see temptations around, you’re more likely to procrastinate and therefore, procrastinate. According to a recent study, your performance can decrease by 20% if your phone is out of your sight.
Social media, internet and even mobile phones lead you far off track and eventually end you up in the world of procrastination.
Drop The Perfectionism
People with perfectionist tendencies tend to wait until things are perfect in order to proceed, which will end them into the world of procrastination. Moreover, perfectionists are often procrastinators, as they avoid completing a task rather doing it imperfectly. Or if you think it is not the perfect time, you believe you can’t start.
A famous quote says, “Behavior that gets rewarded gets repeated.” Right now you manage to overcome procrastination occasionally, right? Sometimes you have the strength, sometimes will power and sometimes you just go through it.
Now just simply reinforce this behavior and start rewarding yourself every time you manage to overcome procrastination. Ultimately, you will control this happen somehow.
Remember! Just tell your dog to ‘sit’ and when he does so, simply reward him with goodies. Repeat this action and eventually your dog will start sitting on your command.
