Lahore (6th Aug, 2019): Pakistan’s Foreign Minister, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, leaves for Hajj amid growing tensions in the Indo-Pak region, and escalation in Kashmir Issue.

According to reports of Baaghi TV, FM Shah Mehmood Qureshi has left for Hajj at a time when he was needed most by the people of Pakistan and Kashmir. Given the escalated Kashmir issue and growing tensions between India and Pakistan, it would have been wise for the Foreign Minister to cancel or indefinitely postpone his Hajj trip this year.

The actions of the Foreign Office and especially FM Qureshi are like a slap to the face for the people who are striving everyday for the justice they deserve. At a time when the country is facing perhaps its most serious foreign policy challenge since 1971 [with the Partition of East and West Pakistan], our Foreign Minister decides to go for Hajj.

FM Qureshi’s actions have therefore, come off as a show of irresponsibility and indifference towards the Kashmir cause for which he should be removed from his position. This is not just an individual show of incompetence but largely reflective of the government body represented by Prime Minister Imran Khan, who seems to be failing as a leader and head of state.

If PM Khan does not act immediately, he will not only fail his people and his state, but also the people of Kashmir looking to Pakistan and the international community for its support.

Baaghi TV urges PM Khan to take notice of the issue and to involve the security council, the OIC and other international bodies to resolve the Kashmir issue keeping in mind the Kashmiri interest of self-determination and basic human right to freedom.

Stay tuned to Baaghi TV for more updates.
