May 26, 2021: A statement from the Foreign Office says that at the invitation of Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi, President of the 75th session of the UN General Assembly Volkan Bozkir will pay a three-day visit to Pakistan. The President of the United Nations General Assembly will pay a visit to Pakistan today, May 26, and will return on May 28, according to a Foreign Ministry spokesman. The details and the schedule for the tour have been finalized.

According to the Foreign Office Spokesperson, the visit of the President General Assembly to the United Nations is an opportunity to highlight Pakistan’s position on global issues. During his stay in Islamabad, the President of the General Assembly will have a detailed discussion with Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, who will also address a function in Islamabad.

Volkan Bozkir is the first Turkish citizen to chair the UN General Assembly. He is a former diplomat and senior politician. After a long 39-year diplomatic career at the Turkish Foreign Ministry, Volkan Bozkir was elected a three-time member of the Turkish parliament and served as chairman of the parliamentary foreign affairs committee. Volkan Bozkir also visited Pakistan in August 2020 before assuming the prestigious position of President of the UN General Assembly.
