Lahore, 27th August: New Zealand cricket legend, all-rounder Chris Cairns is paralyzed in his legs after suffering a stroke in his spine after his heart surgery.
Accoridng to details, former new Zealand cricket player Chris Cairns has been paralyzed from his legs after he suffered a spinal stroke following an emergency heart surgery in Sydney.
According to reports from international media, the 51-year-old player returned to his home city Canberra but remained in serious condition. His lawyer Aaron Lloyd issued a statement to the media saying, “During the life-saving emergency heart surgery Chris underwent in Sydney he suffered a stroke in his spine. This has resulted in paralysis in his legs.”

He added, “As a result, he will be undertaking a significant rehabilitation process at a specialist spinal hospital in Australia.”
The statement further read, “Chris and his family now want to focus on spending time together where possible and making whatever progress they can in his recovery.”
It may be recalled that earlier this month Chris Cairns suffered an aortic dissection, which is a tear that occurs in the inner layer of the body’s main artery, the aorta. He had undergone several operations while in hospital but did not respond to treatment as hoped, according to the New Zealand Herald.

As per the latest reports from last week, Cairns had come off life support after surgery at a Sydney hospital.
It is to be noted that Chris Cairns, who is the son of former Test player Lance Cairns, played 62 tests and 215 one-day internationals for New Zealand between 1989 and 2006.
Cairns has been living and working in Canberra with his wife Mel and their children for several years.
