Authorities in Karachi have arrested Pakistan International Airlines’ (PIA) former managing director (MD) Shahnawaz Rehman along with Muhammad Amir Memon, the former manager Brand Management for the airline, for alleged misuse of authority, sources informed Baaghi TV.

According to sources, the two were arrested by Federal Investigation Authority (FIA) Corporate Crime Circle for misuse of authority and alleged involvement in financial irregularities in the PIA.

Sources have confirmed that Amir Memon along with Rasheed Aziz, the general manager (GM) Marketing at the PIA have been arrested by the FIA Corporate Crime Circle, Karachi in the Airbus A320 deal.

The sources further said that the arrests were made after a detailed investigation.

During the course of inquiry it came on record that the officers of Brand Management including Amir Memon and Central Purchase Committee (CPC) of the PIACL, violated the Rule-4, of the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) Rules 2004.

The inquiry revealed that the accused officers being in capacity of chairman and member CPC misused their official position illegally approved financial proposals of 350 I-Pad project on rental basis.
