Former Miss Brazil Gleycy Correia, 27, passes away

Former Miss Brazil Gleycy Correia died as a result of complications from a routine operation to have her tonsils removed. She was 27. Correia, who was crowned Miss United Continents Brazil in 2018, died at a private clinic on Monday after being in a coma for two months.

The former beauty queen suffered a hemorrhage and heart attack before falling into a coma in early April, just five days after her routine surgery, the Independent reported. Her body has been sent to a medical examiner for an autopsy.

“We’re deeply saddened by this loss. She was an amazing woman and much loved by everyone. It won’t be easy to live without her smile and shine,” the family pastor told The Washington Post.

“God chose this day to collect our princess. We know that she will be greatly missed, but she will now be brightening the sky with her smile. She fulfilled her purpose and left her legacy of love in us!” he added.

Gleycy Correia, who hailed from the southeastern city of Macaé, worked as a permanent makeup specialist. After her title win, she gained a lot of popularity on social media. Her Instagram page has over 57,000 followers. After her death, her friends and family used the account to post heartfelt tributes.
