Less than a week after the French national football team was knocked out of the UEFA Euro Cup in 2021, it is facing a racism scandal.
A video of two players of the French national football team has gone viral on social media, in which two footballers can be seen making fun of Asians. This video of the famous French players Griezmann and Usman Dembele representing the famous La Liga club FC Barcelona is being criticized.
In this video, the players can be seen imitating and making fun of Asians. The video comes at a time when the world champions were knocked out of this crucial European tournament after losing in a penalty shootout to Switzerland in a quarter-final match of the Euro Cup.
There have also been rumors circulating in the media that after the defeat, the differences with the French team’s head coach Star players Kylian Mbappé and Antoine Griezmann have intensified.
The video was allegedly shot by Dembele and shows Griezmann mocking four Asians who are trying to fix a fault in his television room in his hotel room. In this video, Griezmann is laughing and apparently making fun of him. In the video, Griezmann and Dembele can be heard calling the Asians “ugly-faced” and mocking their language.
Apparently, this video is not new, but it seems to be a few years old, because in this video, Griezmann’s hairstyle is not what it is today. However, social media users say that even if the video is old, such behavior by these two players is not acceptable.
The French Football Federation is being pressured to issue a statement in this regard and take appropriate action against these players. With the Euro Cup out of 2012, the French team is now busy preparing for the World Cup and trying to defend its title in Qatar. However, differences within the team may affect the performance of this ‘quarrelsome team’.
