French policeman survives stabbing attack in Cannes
France: France’s interior minister reports that a heroic policeman survived a dangerous knife attack in the city of Cannes on Monday.
The intended crime took place on Monday morning as four police officers outside Cannes police station were preparing to go on daily patrol. The assassin came near the officers asking for information before opening the door of the vehicle they were in and stabbing one of the officers in the chest with a knife. The assailant then tried to stab the second officer before he was neutralized.
The interior minister told the press that the officer was not harmed physically as he was wearing a bulletproof vest but that he was severely shocked at the incident.
Investigation is now started regarding this incident, but Darmanin, the interior minister told the reporters that the investigation would not be under the national anti-terrorist prosecutor’s responsibilty.
