Istanbul, 23rd July 2020: Friday prayers will be offered at the Hagia Sofia Mosque Turkey after 86 years.
Friday prayers will be offered tomorrow at the famous Aya Sofia Mosque in Istanbul, which will be attended by dignitaries including President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The Turkish Presidency has released an official video in which artists from different Muslim countries of the world have recited poems in their own language praising the historic mosque.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has released a video with a Twitter message in which he wrote, “O Aya Sofia, the wind is blowing.” In the video, singers from Bosnia, Albania, Azerbaijan, Kurdish, Swahili, Arabic, Bengali, and Turkish recited poems praising the mosque.
On July 10, Turkey’s highest administrative court, the Council of State, overturned the 1934 ruling in favor of Aya Sofia in favor of the Sultan Muhammad Fatih Foundation. The ruling said it could not be used for any purpose other than a mosque. The building was built in the sixth century.
Turkey’s Hagia Sophia to be converted into a Mosque
It should be noted that the Federation of Russian Officials and Churches has demanded that Turkey take precautions in converting the old church in Istanbul and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Aya Sofia into a mosque.
A high court in Turkey is debating whether one of the world’s most iconic museums, the Aya Sofia, which currently has the status of a museum, can be converted into a mosque. The move could escalate tensions with the West and the Christian community.
It should be noted that the Council of State, Turkey’s highest governing body, had postponed the decision to convert Aya Sofia into a mosque.
