Lahore, 12th August: The Government of Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) has announced to reopen Skardu for tourists after almost six months due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
According to Baaghi TV, GB government has officially reopened Skardu for tourism activities after 6 months, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Skardu has confirmed.

However, the GB government has made it mandatory for all tourists to present their negative coronavirus test before entering Skardu.

The decision has been taken to ensure that the coronavirus does not resurge in the northern areas.

According to details, DC Skardu has directed all concerned authorities to ensure compliance with the latest directive along with COVID-19 SOPs such as wearing masks, sanitizing hands, maintaining a safe distance from others.

Tourism across the world and Pakistan came to a halt after the coronavirus pandemic hit globally. Lockdown was imposed during the month of March across different countries halting all the social activities.

The government of Pakistan has lifted the lockdown from the 10th of August on the recreational and hospitality industries after receiving assent from the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) in consultation with all provinces during a meeting of the National Coordination Committee (NCC).
Citizens are urged to follow the safety rules while traveling, for the safety of themselves and their loved ones around.
