In the crowded halls of Pakistan’s universities, where there reigns an abundance of knowledge and the yearning resonates, there exists a tumultuous quietness as well – one that envelops psychological issues of female academicians. A silent weight upon the back of accomplishment, admiration and academic toughness is unheard of an emotional and psychological tool in attempting to excel in an imbalanced educational environment.
Despite significant progress in education and commercial development, the female faculty members in Pakistan continue to face multi-angle challenges from the micro-workplace to harassment and boycott. These challenges often appear as an incompatibility between the expectations and living realities that can destroy inspiration, self-values, and mental welfare between expectations and living realities.

Besides, female academics tend to associate with any organizational support without investigation, instruction, administrative tasks, and domestic obligations. There is no encouragement for employees supporting especially flexible work hours, maternity support, mental health counselling and grievance redressal mechanisms in the absence of gender-sensitive policies.
However, traditionally in male-oriented departments, women faculty members often report reduced mentorship and limited inclusion in decision making roles. These structural exclusions can lead to separation from a organizational working mechanism, impostor syndrome and older anxiety feelings.
Many women academics are reluctant to speak about the backslash, professional stagnation, or character decision. In cases where women challenge institutional norms or increase concerns about harassment, and psychological tolls may be immense. Lack of institutional accountability deepens only violations between trust and experience.

The authorities concerned should come forward to raise awareness in the masses regarding issues women have been facing and should also provide sustainable solutions to let society flourish for long-term resilience. Few organizations already doing this deserve an applause like Pakistan Psychological Association (PPA) and Women Higher Education Network (WHEN) which have been conducting dialogues on these issues to facilitate the people.
In my opinion, universities in Pakistan should develop welfare policies, establish gender equity cells, and promote mental health awareness in the areas where these operate. And make a sufficient slot for women faculty members in decision making, leadership opportunities, and mentoring networks. The inclusivity in the organizations guarantees the exponential growth.
