In a response to the ongoing crisis in Kashmir and abolishment of its special autonomous status by New Delhi, Germany urged the Indian government to respect civil rights by holding dialogue with the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

Germany’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Maria Adebahr, spoke to a news conference in Berlin, where she announced that the German government has an eye on the ongoing situation in the Himalayan region and is calling out on the Indian government to take Kashmir’s population on board the decision-making process through having a dialogue.

She urged the Indian government to respect civil rights and said that they believe that all further decisions over the issue must adhere to India’s Constitution and India should involve the concerned population by having a dialogue about its plan regarding Kashmir.
