Ghislaine Maxwell, former partner of Jeffery Epstein, faces new criminal charges

New York, March 30 2021: British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell faces fresh charges in her list of alleged offenses.
The new charges include sex trafficking conspiracy and sex trafficking of a minor. These were filed by US prosecutors and extend time frame of her offenses by 7 years, owing to her role in aiding sexual abuse of an unnamed “Minor Victim-4,” by her former partner Jeffrey Epstein.
Maxwell, 59, is now accused of offenses between 1994 and 2004. The new charges are stronger than the initial “enticement” and “transportation” of victims for illegal sexual acts with minors.
Virginia Giuffre, an Epstein accuser has also filed charges of perjury against Maxwell but the accused daughter of late newspaper baron Robert Maxwell denies that she recruited girls for Epstein, the disgraced US financier who killed himself in jail in 2019 while awaiting trial.
Maxwell was denied bail for a third time earlier this month and remains in prison in Brooklyn awaiting a trial due to start this summer. In the new indictment, she is said to have “lured” and “groomed” 14 year-old Minor Victim-4 to engage in sexual acts with Epstein through multiple means,” according to the court documents.
Prosecutors allege that Maxwell also encouraged the victim “to recruit other young females to provide massages to Epstein.”
Maxwell faces an effective life sentence if convicted. Her trial is due to start in July but is likely to be delayed because of the pandemic and the new indictment.
