Global Pandemic & the lessons learnt!

Few months back nobody could have guessed that the world will look like it does today! All locked up in our houses, people avoiding meeting each other, no air travel, schools, offices, malls and cinemas closed for an indefinite period of time. We are hit by hard times and there’s no respite visible in the near future.
Countless pharmaceutical companies and scientists are working on the current covid-19 situation to find a cure or at least stop the growth of infections but so far to no avail. The public is getting more fearful, panicky and confused. Our lives have changed beyond imagination.
People around the world are in desperate circumstances and needs. The euphoria of scientific development and aura of super powers is under question.
The coronavirus has showed us the value of health and wealth in our lives and to set our priorities accordingly. There are lessons learnt from every situation in life and the current pandemic is no different. The most valuable and worth mentioning lessons are being quoted here.

- Health is Wealth!
Right now we all are focusing on boosting our health and hygiene in all possible ways. People are adopting healthy activities like cycling, reading, spending time together with family. Healthy lifestyle is a key takeaway from this crisis.
The sheer load of patients had an overwhelming affect on the heath care systems around the world. Similarly, our hospitals need more attention than any other department in the country.
- Government and general public need to invest and donate to bolster the health sector.
I’m sure by now most of us have realized the importance of personal freedom. To move freely, to be with our loved ones, and choose our daily chores. Lockdowns have raised awareness about the plight of those under occupation, refugees and the lesser privileged. Liberty should be safeguarded at all costs.
Here’s one very important outlook towards life that:
- ‘no one can predict the future’.
So we might as well stop fretting over it. Similarly, we have no means to control natural calamities. It’s rightly said, “Man proposes, God disposes.” Hence, go with the flow.

We sometimes take for granted simple things like a stroll in the park, watching movies, eating out, playing sports, even guilty of cribbing on having an odd rainy or hot day but now one feels those were all blessings.
- It’s not too late, we can still enjoy smaller things in life and be happy rather than complaining and whining.
We tend to hoard many articles without realizing their utility. Now that going out is not that frequent, we see most of these items are not essential to our existence. All luxury items lying lifeless in our cupboards locked the way we are, in our houses.
- We can live without many luxuries in life.
The fear of infection has forced us to cut our dependency on domestic help. The notion that we can’t live without our servants has vanished in to thin air. Over reliance on outside help has made us selfish and lazy. Time to embrace some of the responsibility back and make ourselves more active at home.
- We are going back to basics in relation to our eating habits.
The junk food and ice cream are out of favor nowadays. It’s all about healthy diet and boosting our immune system. Coronavirus has forced reset our focus on nutrition.
Stop taking undue stress. For many people down with this ailment, there is significantly less value of an imminent promotion, pay raise or even a possible job loss. All that matters is getting well again!
- Nothing matters more than your own health and that of your loved ones.
Do charity. This is the time to heal your inner self. Some elements are unfortunately exploiting the situation to make a quick buck. This is a self damaging act in the long run as money alone can never provide lasting peace.
- Be considerate of others, help them recover from the affects of this situation.
When there’s less transport on the roads, there’s reduced pollution, which in turn means better living conditions. Therefore, our government should learn from recent lockdowns and devise a mechanism to improve environment and combat climate change.
Last but not the least, thank Allah for the life you have. Be grateful to medical staff and others that are helping us in these struggling times. The pandemic forces us to re-evaluate our goals and charter a new path.
