Go the Putin's Way or the Highway | Baaghi TV

Russia saw some really tough days after the Cold War ended. The two terms during the Yeltsin tenure were really, really bad and tormenting. The oligarchs were handed down the state enterprises but nothing changed the future of the downtrodden people, the wretched state of a common man could not change during those years of trying times.

They were pushed to the extremities of wretchedness. Through the nineties, the country suffered some huge economic troubles. Where one loaf of bread was equivalent to a normal person’s pension. It was so grave and the situation so abysmally grim that towards the end and because of his debilitating health he gave up on his own accord bringing Putin in. The one good act that he did was to see Putin become the president who had risen through the ranks initially to become the head of the KGB, and was now ready to succeed Yeltsin as the president of Russia.

Gorby had initiated Glasnost after the Chornobyl debacle. The government officials were to be held accountable for any wrong if they ever did in their very own spheres of life, business, and work, later the perestroika kicked off trying to gain ground, but unfortunately, this transition from communism to capitalism was a tough ordeal. The journey was arduous that was taking its toll on each person of the public who had impatiently waited for the Midas miracle to happen, even the Destalinization in the country was not working. Gorbachev was the architect who brought down the Berlin Wall, this wall had been the harbinger of the real divide between two very irreconcilable thoughts: communism and capitalism. The storm was brewing. People were hell-bent on becoming independent people. The voices of freedom had begun to arise from across the soviet States. It all began with Lithuania taking a headstart. The mob was uncontrollable and people moved around like free spirits. Gorby had promised each of the neighbouring countries that they could have liberty and freedom but he had wished these states to stay under the aegis of the soviet union. No matter how they acted. But the Lithuanians, the Bulgarians, and the Ukrainians were the first ones wanting to be independent republics. Gorbachev was banished and exiled to live in his Dacha at Foroso.

Yeltsin could see through the impending storm and the uprising which was too dangerously and precariously imminent.

He cashed in on the moment and spearheaded the movement of liberating the whole of Russia himself. Through all the shouting and yelling, this acrimony paved the way for his stepping in as the president. After he came to accession Gorby was made to resign. So this is a journey marked with pain, hunger, and suffering for the people of Russia. Things went from bad to worse.

So this journey for Yeltsin was pretty rough, and the road turbulent. He had to go through choppy waters. His career ended one day when he resigned and brought in Putin.

This was the time when Russia was beleaguered, and fractured inwardly.

Putin’s strategy was to get around the Oligarchs to turn around the failing state of the country. He summoned them over a round table conference. He told them upfront what he had wished, and what he had on his mind. He got around them and demanded money of them. To which one leading businessman amongst others, who was an oil manganate sounded in an unwelcoming way. He was made aware of the dire consequences instantaneously. Kodosky was the man who was sent and put in jail for ten years. He spent a good ten years in the prison. The remaining big cats coughed up billions. So he helped nurse the country back to its health. So this is just how Putin resorted and tried to rid the country of its ailing economy.

So, in Pakistan, the economic condition is also dire. 22,000 billion is what we require to breathe economically. Our vows will remain the same. Drastic changes are the need of the hour. Either go the Putins way or put your house back in order.

Pakistan needs a whopping 23,000 billion to present a non-deficit budget. It is equivalent to 80 billion dollars. Correspondingly if every citizen, whether rich or poor pays this much, then only this kind of circulation may take effect uninterrupted and unimpeded.

The policy to collect taxes from a common citizen is to tax in a way that each one of them gets to pay a minimum tax of up to 20 percent on every item that they buy. We are not in a comfortable spot to transact business that changes hands in the region of 400 billion dollars.

Their exports run into 30 billion dollars every year. Foreign remittances are about 30 billion dollars. The transaction due to the documented economy money does not exceed the 300 billion dollar ceiling.

There is widely a black and undocumented clandestine transaction within the country in the region of 200 billion dollars that takes by and large. The act of hoarding and the undeclared buying of immovable properties, adulterated and fraudulent way of business leads only to corrupt practices. An economy that has gone on unchecked for decades in a country I’m afraid the country won’t survive like that.

Moreover, the smuggling of gold and dollars is something that needs to be controlled and curtailed. One of the chief contributing factors remains the Afghan trade which has to stop at all costs. Unless of course it is not brought into black and white. Nothing ever would change. Blaming Nawaz, Zardari, and Imran Khan won’t help. Let bygones be bygones.

No time for the establishment to conveniently blame the old matter of the politicians and vice versa. The cat and mouse play must halt once and for all.

Collectively the establishment, the political elite, and the other institutions should be working in unison to get the country out of this choking stranglehold.

Long live Pakistan!
