The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has received yet another threatening email warning of a bomb attack on the Golden Temple, marking the eighth such threat since July 14.
Authorities have significantly heightened restrictions around the revered Sikh shrine in response and additional police personnel have been deployed outside the temple, while plainclothes officers are patrolling the complex to prevent any untoward incidents.
Amritsar Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that investigations are underway.
Meanwhile, SGPC officials and religious leaders have urged the government to treat the matter with utmost seriousness and ensure the safety of one of Sikhism’s holiest sites.
