Good news for Pakistani employees working for Dasu Dam

Lahore, 18th July: All Pakistani employees who were fired by the Chinese company working on the Dasu Hydropower Project have been reinstated.

Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) issued a statement that all fired Pakistani employees working on Dasu Dam have been reinstated who were fired by the Chinese firm.

The decision was taken in reaction to the death of nine Chinese engineers in an explosion at the Dasu site.

Pakistan and China are committed to completing Dasu Dam project

The statement shows that the notice of firing the Pakistani staff has been reverted.

The WAPDA spokesperson said the Chinese firm working on the Dasu Hydropower Project had stopped work on the DAM after ” Security Concern”. Whereas after talks with WAPDA and assurances, the company agreed on resuming work.

As WAPDA is in constant contact with Chinese authorities most expectedly the security will be tightened on the DAM.

China to assist Pakistan in Dasu Dam investigation

It was reported a day earlier that over security concerns all Pakistani workers have been laid off by the Chinese firm operating on Dasu Hydro Power Project.

The Chinese firm had issued a statement that Pakistani employees will be paid salary and gratuity as per their contract even after the project was abandoned after security concerns.
