Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that the Prime Minister, Imran Khan, has approved a grant worth billions for the Ramadan package.
According to reports, FM Qureshi said that Ramadan bazaars are going to be turned into convenience bazaars. He expressed hope that the Utility Cooperation will provide good quality material to the citizens during Ramadan.
FM Qureshi stated that the government is inaugurating the launch of a Ramadan package for the residents of Multan. “The Prime Minister briefs us every week on inflation. Our biggest challenge is to control inflation”, said FM Qureshi.
According to reports, the Prime Minister has met with members of the South Punjab Assembly in Lahore to discuss the matter. It is estimated that the Pakistan rupee is gaining momentum in the international market, which will make a difference in setting rates for imported products. Moreover, the December 2020 notification has reportedly been approved by the Cabinet.
The Foreign Minister further said that PM Khan has directed immediate release of funds, approximately Rs.70 crore for the Secretariat. He expressed that the Prime Minister will set up Secretariats in Multan and Bahawalpur. According to reports, earlier, the money set aside for South Punjab was used for other projects. Approximately 33% of the budget of South Punjab was shown and 17% was spent on projects within the region. However, in the upcoming development budget, a separate budget will be made for South Punjab.
